MISSION STATEMENT
The Baptist Training Union Board: Our Mission, our Objectives, and our Values. In 2 Timothy 2:15, the Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, one of his understudy, and demanded that he, “Study to show thyself approved unto God, A workman that needeth not to be ashamed rightly dividing the Word of Truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15.
Each of us, as God’s workman, will either be approved or we will be ashamed. The word “approved” means one who has been tested and found acceptable for the work of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Each trial that we go through, should force us to study the Word of God, so that we might continue to find God’s will in our lives. As we rightly use God’s Word it will allow us to succeed in overcoming our trials and our temptations only so that we might be rightly [fully] approved by God.
OUR OBJECTIVE
Therefore, it is the aim/objective of the B. T. U. Board to conduct workshops and seminars in our Convention, our local Churches, and our District associations–so that God’s people, will not only be taught the Word of God, but will also be trained how to properly apply it, with proper values. It is the also, the aim of the BTU Board, that the two-fold mandates of the “Great Commission,” are carried out:
That a person is taught [evangelized], so that they may know the Lord–(Matthew 28:19-20).
That a person is trained [nurtured-discipled] –(Proverb 22:6).
OUR VALUES
We will teach God’s Word, and train God’s people so that they will know how to apply it.
We will teach Church Etiquette, so that every new and old convert should know how to use it.
We will teach Christian Ethics, so that God’s people will know he or she should act in God’s house.
We will teach, Christians Doctrine–the basis, so that heresy will not intrude our Churches.
So, how will we know unless we are taught, and how will we know how to act, if we are not trained?
As we endeavor to carry our mission, it is also the aim of the BTU Board to be governed by the authority of the convention, and its leadership, conducting workshops and seminars that will continue to teach and to train God’s people. One such event where we will teach and train God’s people is our next workshop.
